About Alec's Chess Club for Kids

Alec personally mentors his students in developing their strategic thinking skills and love for the game.  Choose from Homeschool classes, private lessons, or weekend tournaments.

Club Mission Statement
Alec's Chess Club exists to help children become the best chess players they can be, while learning fundamental life skills that are transferable to anything they pursue, through inspiring lessons, challenging tournaments, and compassionate mentoring.

His Inspiration
Alec started playing chess when he was 12.

His first chess teacher, Mr. Zabawa, affectionatly known by his students as "Mr. Z", inspired him to work very hard at the game. A second teacher, Mrs. Williams, showed him that chess could be a truly FUN game to play.  Alec's goal was to combine both styles of coaching with his students: working hard but keeping the game fun as well.

Teaching Style
Alec goes out of his way to reach out to his students, making them feel his genuine concern for them. Because of this, he has formed deep bonds with the kids and their families. As a certified coach and tournament director of USCF™ (United States Chess Federation), Alec excels at focusing on the needs of each individual student.
